  • Description: Woodland Manor Long-Term Care Facility was built in the late 1980's as a single story, 16 room center to house the long-term care needs of elderly, convalescent and dementia patience for Hay River and area. ARCAN, in partnership with the Hay River Métis, designed and built an addition with 10 new rooms along with the required support space for the new wing.

Some of the challenges that faced this job were a requirement to keep the addition at the same elevation of the existing building and to attach to the existing building without impacting any code upgrade requirements. In addition the existing facility continued to operate and house vulnerable patients throughout the course of construction. This meant that infection control was of the utmost importance.
