Safety Statement
At ARCAN, our people are our most important asset; therefore, we are committed to providing a safe working environment for our employees and stakeholders. Our continued quest to provide a safe work environment is outlined in our Health and safety statement.
COR – Certificate of Recognition
ARCAN has maintained COR certification through internal and external audits and maintenance of records.
Training and Education
ARCAN is committed to employee training and education. We have in-house training for safety, including First aid, WHMIS, telehandler training, elevated work platform and end-user fall protection. We outsource all other courses through our affiliates, such as NSA (Northern Safety Association and NWT and Nunavut (WSCC) Workers Safety and Compensation Committee.
Each Site Supervisor has personal access to Corfix, a digital application specifically for construction site safety management that includes a compilation of ARCAN's safety forms that are used on a daily basis. These forms assist our leaders in safety implementation and preparedness. Therefore, they never have to search for a safety-related form; when they are required, it is at the ready.
At ARCAN we view our health and safety program as a "race with no end". It keeps moving forward with steady momentum, never stopping at a finish line. With safety, we are continuously improving and re-educating ourselves with the most up-to-date legislation, acts and information made available to us.
